Princess Mary, Crown Princess of Denmark, witnessed a horror accident with her children from the balcony of Hermitage Palace over the weekend.
Both the dramatic riding accident and Mary and her children’s horrified reactions were caught on camera.
The Tasmania-born royal, 45, and her four children could be seen shielding their eyes as a rider took a nasty fall during an annual horse race event.

The Royals were among thousands who turned out to watch cross-country horse race Hubertus Hunt, in woodland north of Copenhagen.
But the crowds gasped as one rider fell from his horse, laying limp on the ground before being rushed away in an ambulance.
Elsewhere during the day, Mary and her children Christian, 12, Isabella, 10, and six-year-old twins Vincent and Josephine posed for photographs and waved to onlookers.

Mary’s husband, Crown Prince Frederik, was noticeably absent from the event, instead attending an International Olympic Committee meeting in Switzerland.
His absence didn’t appear to dampen his children’s spirits.
