Camilla slept with Charles for ‘revenge’
Camilla Parker Bowles, Duchess of Cornwell, first decided to sleep with Prince Charles back in the 1970s to get back at her unfaithful boyfriend, a leading royal biographer has revealed.
In her book The Duchess: The Untold Story, author Penny Junor has said that Camilla was so annoyed that her boyfriend (husband-to-be Andrew Parker Bowles) had been cheating on her with the Prince’s sister, Princess Anne, that she decided to get revenge. The affair took place in the early 1970s.

“So when she was introduced to Charles he thought she was pretty special and he thought she was a bit of all right,” Ms Junor said.
“And she thought ‘Andrew is at the moment off with Princess Anne, I’ll teach him a lesson’ so she had a fling with Charles.”
According to Ms Junor, Camilla was “passionately” in love with Andrew Parker Bowles at the time, so overlooked his infidelity. She was aware that he was sleeping with other women — including some of her closest friends.Jazz and pop singer Keely Smith dies at 89
At the Henley Literary Festival in England on the weekend, Ms Junor shared one particular tale where Camilla caught Andrew having a dalliance with one of her friends.
“There was a lovely story when she was walking through London in the evening and spotted his car parked outside the flat of a very good friend of hers.
“So she let the tyres down and wrote a message in lipstick on his windscreen,” she said.Assault laws in focus amid Weinstein saga
It appears Andrew wasn’t the only one sleeping around at the time. Ms Junor claimed that Prince Charles was also having a number of affairs during his 20s and 30s — many of them with married women.
However, when Charles learned of Camilla’s decision to marry Mr Parker Bowles, he was reportedly “heartbroken”. In the book, Junor writes that the prince begged Camilla Shand (her name at the time) to call off her wedding to Mr Parker Bowles.
